Choosing a good dog food brand can be a daunting experience. Naturally, you want the brand to be sustainable and environmentally conscious, use high-quality ingredients, and provide your pup with all the vitamins and nutrients they need. Oh yeah, and you will obviously want your dog to like it!

For those looking for the best in premium pet nutrition, look no further than ZIWI® Peak.

About ZIWI

Based in New Zealand, ZIWI® is a family-owned company with a serious commitment to quality. Ethically and sustainably sourced in New Zealand, all ZIWI Peak recipes feature high inclusions of meat, organ, and bone, and are gently air-dried to lock in the nutritional goodness of raw ingredients in a convenient scoop-and-serve dry food. All recipes are also free from corn, wheat, soy, and artificial additives.

ZIWI’s mission is simple: to provide peak nutrition without compromise, building its brand off its ethical food philosophy. From their website:

“We believe good food starts with great ingredients, which includes ethical sourcing. Rooted in New Zealand’s culture, our farmers believe wholeheartedly in their role as kaitiaki; or being guardians of the land and sea. Ethical and sustainable isn’t just a standard—it’s our way of life.”

ZIWI® recently expanded its portfolio to include the Provenance Series. This new line of multi protein recipes is inspired by New Zealand’s diverse landscape, featuring 5 meats and fish sourced from single regions in New Zealand.

East Cape Recipe for Dogs

This recipe, inspired by this beautiful coastline, contains a blend of wild-caught and whole fish - kahawai, white trevally, and blue mackerel along with free-range, grass-fed mutton and goat.

Hauraki Plains Recipe for Dogs

A region known for its gentle winds, this recipe combines free-range chicken and fresh whole eggs, local duck and turkey, along with wild-caught, whole kahawai fish.

Otago Valley Recipe for Dogs

The diverse region of the Otago Valley recipe features free-range and grass-fed beef, venison, and lamb, along with wild-caught hoki and southern blue whiting from New Zealand's sub-Antarctic waters.

My dogs and I have been fans of ZIWI’s products for a long time. One of my favorite things about this new line is the addition of smaller 5 oz bags. These are perfect for those on the go or those that want to use ZIWI’s food as training treats like I do!

One word of caution; ZIWI’s products pack more calories per scoop than other commercial dog brands. If you don’t want your dog to get chubby, I recommend adding it as a topper for their regular food, reserving it for special occasions, or using it as a high-reward treat during training sessions.

In case it wasn’t obvious at this point, I am a massive fan of ZIWI. With clean ingredients, a commitment to sustainability, and a taste my pups physically cannot resist, it matches everything I look for in dog food.
